Douglas was born in Cardiff and began studying Piano at the age of 7. He passed Grade 8 Piano with distinction and then went on to carry out a Diploma, qualifying him to teach. He later added clarinet to his studies.
Douglas studied at the London College of Music until 1982 in performance with piano and clarinet. He has played and taught extensively since, with the majority of students gaining high exam results.
He began playing in clubs from the age of 12, backing vocalists/musicians and playing for dancing, recording backing tracks for artists and accompanying various vocalists and musicians.
Douglas has been teaching since 1982 and has guided countless adults and children to explore the wonderful world of music through his inspiring, patient, fun and enjoyable lessons. He works closely with the needs of each individual and unique student, bringing out the imagination, discipline, creativity and self-belief with every session of tuition.
Through the various combination of technique, theory, music appreciation and aural method, Douglas nurtures his students into developing a sensitive and creative all round musicianship, ready to follow whichever route they wish to take through the music industry.
Examinations are there for those wishing to push ahead with their studies or to simply learn to play for the love and pleasure of music and have endless fun exploring their ability to play and perform as they wish.
