1. WHERE DO YOU TEACH?
I teach in Fairwater, Cardiff from my home, where the room is dedicated to the lessons. The address will be provided with any other details when booking is confirmed.
2. DO I HAVE TO SIT EXAMS?
You can if you wish, but you do not have to! Lessons are student-led to determine what you wish to achieve out of your studies. Grades are a wonderful way of measuring your progress as well as being recognised within the industry and education, especially as they will gain you UCAS points at the higher grades. Exams are not for everyone, and you will not be pressured into doing anything you do not wish to do.
3. WHAT AGE GROUP DO YOU TEACH?
All ages, though ideally from 5 years of age to introduce having fun with music. My eldest student began lessons in her mid-80s and has done very well! – Never too old to learn!!
4. DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS FOR OAP’s, BLOCK BOOKINGS AND OFFER GIFT VOUCHERS?
There is a discount for OAP’s and block bookings. Gift vouchers are available from £13 to whichever amount you would like to buy (ie: Block Booking Voucher), and can be e-mailed to yourself once funds have cleared or paid for in cash.
5. WILL YOU COME TO MY HOME TO TEACH?
I teach from home due to all of my resources are here for lessons such as recording equipment to record parts of your lessons for you to work on at home along with instruments, music etc.. Also, working from home, I am able to accommodate more pupils, due to not having to travel around, which gives me more flexibility as to the time slots I am able to offer.
6. DO I HAVE TO DO CLASSICAL MUSIC OR CAN I CHOOSE?
Every one of my students is unique, and lessons are catered for each individual. Initially there will be an element of technical work to cover so as to get a good understanding of the music, but once done, students are welcome to choose their own repertoire and styles to suit. During the lessons we can discuss options and suggest ideas if you are not sure as what you would like to achieve on the piano or keyboard, and after a few weeks will have a better idea of choice.
7. WHAT TIMES DO YOU TEACH?
Lessons are from 8.30am until 9pm between Monday and Friday. Due to commitments I do not teach on weekends except for exceptional circumstances – ie: exams. I try to be as flexible as possible in my teaching, offer reasonable fee rates and have a fair cancellation policy, a contract of which will be given on first lesson showing details.
8. CAN ANYONE LEARN TO PLAY THE PIANO OR KEYBOARD?
Many people think they cannot play – “I’m tone deaf” etc, but with hard work, determination and practice, it can be mastered. Anything in life has to be worked at to achieve results. Some reach a level and find it harder to move on, but most, through hard work and a passion to achieve, learn to play extremely well. How long it takes to learn to play is different for each individual, but, you WILL be able to play!
9. IS THERE SPACE TO PARK MY CAR?
Yes, there is parking space right outside the property.
